Looking for the Light: A Walk with the Camera 2012

“We heal ourselves in the act of photographing by being fully present to the moment at hand. When we stand on the edge of that which is, we are released from the yoke of what has been, detached from the fear of what might be. There is only the moment, the light, the matter of our vision. All is peace in the eternal now.”

– Jan Phillips, God is at Eye Level: Photography as a Healing Art

As 2012 closes, I am very thankful for the time I have spent behind my camera.  Jan Phillips, in her wonderful book God is at Eye Level, calls photography an experience of the holy, an encounter with the God who is at eye level.  By simply opening our heart, slowing our breath, and being fully present to the here and now, we can touch some small piece of the mystery of the Divine.

All we have to do is look, and we will find Him there.

  1. Lovely, lovely images Jeri-and I could not agree more about the power of photography to help us be closer to something much larger than ourselves-I hope to see more of your work and of your words in 2013-Happy New Year-
